Analytical Techniques

To introduce students to the powerful analytical methods used to study and understand biological products, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.

Starting from October 19, 2024, Enroll Today!

Description

Analytical techniques are like detective tools that help scientists understand the composition and quality of biological products. In this workshop, students will explore various methods used to analyze samples, learning how to measure, compare, and ensure the highest quality.

Examples of Concepts and Projects

  • Spectrophotometry: Students will use a spectrophotometer to measure the concentration of proteins in a solution by analyzing light absorbance. They’ll see how light can tell us so much about a sample!
  • pH Measurement: They’ll learn how to measure and adjust the pH of cell culture media using a digital pH meter, understanding the importance of pH in biological systems. It’s like being a pH detective!
  • Hands-On Project: Gel Electrophoresis: Students will separate DNA fragments using gel electrophoresis, learning how scientists analyze genetic material. They’ll get to see DNA bands light up under UV light – a truly magical moment!
  • Colorimetric Assays: They’ll perform simple enzyme assays to quantify the activity of enzymes in samples using color change. Watching colors change as reactions occur is always exciting!
  • Protein Assays: Using colorimetric methods to measure protein concentration in various samples, students will learn how scientists determine the purity and concentration of proteins.

Why It's Exciting?

Your child will feel like a real scientist, using advanced equipment to analyze and understand biological samples. They’ll discover how these techniques are used in research and industry to ensure products are safe and effective.
