Cell Culture

To introduce students to the thrilling world of cell culture, teaching them how scientists grow cells to produce life-saving medicines, vaccines, and more.

Starting from October 19, 2024, Enroll Today!

Description

Cell culture is like creating a miniature farm of cells that grow and multiply under special conditions. In this workshop, students will learn how to grow and take care of cells, just like
scientists do in labs. They will understand the importance of maintaining a sterile environment to prevent contamination and explore how cell culture is vital in producing life-saving medicines.

Examples of Concepts and Projects

  • Sterile Techniques: Students will practice keeping their work area clean and germ-free using real lab tools like pipettes, flasks, and incubators. They will become experts in preventing contamination!
  • Cell Growth and Maintenance: They will observe cells growing in culture flasks, learning the basics of feeding and caring for these tiny organisms.
  • Hands-On Project: DNA Extraction from Strawberries: Students will extract DNA from strawberries, giving them a tangible connection to genetic material and its significance in cell culture. They will be amazed at seeing DNA with their own eyes!
  • Mini Bioreactor Model: Using simple materials like plastic bottles and air pumps, students will build a model bioreactor to simulate how cells grow and produce useful substances. It’s like creating a mini cell factory!
  • Microscopy: Students will use microscopes to observe cells up close, exploring cell structures and functions. They will discover a hidden world right under their eyes!

Why It's Exciting?

Your child will experience the thrill of being a scientist, working with real lab equipment and learning how cells grow to help make medicines and vaccines. This adventure into the microscopic world is not just educational but also incredibly fun!
